Orient Overseas Container Line was established in 1947 to link Hong Kong and the rest of China with the world. Until 1969, they were known as Orient Overseas Line because the whole "Container" concept didn't catch on until then. These special containers are equipped with hanger rails for carrying new clothes...thus the name "Garmentainer." The prototypes were both photographed in Long Beach, California. | |
