Yang Ming Line was born late in 1972 in Taiwan. Today, they operate a fleet of 74 ships including container ships, bulk haulers (coal and ore) and super-tankers. Lately they have been partnering with "K" Line of Japan, COSCO of China, and Hanjin of South Korea to increase their operating territory and increase their number of departures. YM Line also rosters, 40', 45', and reefer containers. Although 20' containers are occasionally used for smaller batches of cargo, it is more common for 20' boxes to be used for heavier cargos that would max out on their highway weight limit long before a 40¹ container could be filled. This is why it is common to see two 20' containers in the lower position of a double stack car with no container on top, the two 20's maxed out that platform of the rail car. It is also common to 20' containers riding on 3 axel container chassis. |
