American President Lines acquired Maxi IIIs early to accomodate their growing domestic container business. Before that, APL's 48' boxes vied for space in the top positions of 40' well cars. These cars currently serve Pacer Stacktrain, most in their original paint.

Trailer Train was established by the Pennsylvania Railroad in the late 50s and grew into a huge equipment pool shared by most Class 1 railroads. Trailer Train changed their name to TTX Corp in 1992 and has gradually been repainting its huge fleet ever since.

40' Refrigerated Containers Orient Overseas Container Line was established in 1947 to link Hong Kong and the rest of China with the world. Until 1969, they were known as Orient Overseas Line because the whole "Container" concept didn't catch on until then. Like most major container lines, OOCL has developed marketing alliances and pools over the years. Currently they work with China Shipping, Zim, Australia National Line and others.

Horizon Lines, Inc. is a Jones Act ocean carrier. Jones Act carriers connect the continental U.S. with Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, etc. When CSX sold SeaLand Services to Maersk (which created Maersk SeaLand,) the Jones Act routes were not part of the deal. CSX established CSX Lines to operate these ocean routes. Then CSX sold this subsidiary to an investment group and Horizon Lines was born. These reefers were leased from Transamerica.

Crowley Marine was founded in 1892 by Tom Crowley and a single row boat! In short, if it was a job involving floating, Crowley has done it. These 53' boxes are used to haul cargo between the U.S. mainland and U.S. territories. Since Crowley has these boxes in box blue and tuscan, we did a 2-pack with one of each!

C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. is one of the largest third party logistics companies in North America that provides intermodal transportation services. This refrigerated container has a reefer unit that protrudes from the nose so that the container can not be placed in the lower well of a stack car. Reefer units are included in the package.

These cast resin trash dumpsters are sold 2 to a package. They are ready to be placed on your layout after painting. They are typically green but may be many other colors too. The lids are sometimes black. Look around back for the colors near you.
