September Update: After a long wait, the Maxi-IV Fix-Kits are here. This version has been tested and they work properly to correct the rolling and truck swivel problems. The Fix-Kit is a set of washers which will provide the correct spacing for the trucks. Coupler height should be correct after the fix. July Update on the Maxi-IV Fix-Kit: The first test batch had issues.
The washers did not etch as expected and were all too big. After some filing, we tested proof of concept, then it was literally back to the drawing board. We ironed out all of the problems with the etcher and ordered another batch. An expected shipping date has not been received yet but they should be here during the first half of July.
March Update: We are aware that some of the Maxi-IV in this run have a problem rolling well, especially in curves. We are researching this and believe we have isolated the problem. We are working on a "Fix Kit" do distribute free of charge to any customers that experience this problem. Check back for more information soon.
February Update: The First six (6) roadnames of the Maxi-IV are now shipping!
The mud flaps for the platform ends of the A and B wells are included in the box in a small plastic bag. These parts were sometimes interfereing with the wheel flanges on curves of less than a 14" radius thus causing derailments. While it was not a consistent problem, the decision was made to leave the parts off to avoid any problems. Running the cars loaded, you will probably not even notice that the mudflaps are not in place. Customer who want to run their cars empty can easily install the mud flaps.
